A special thank you to Karina Orgill for capturing this time in my life. I am blessed to have a beautiful daughter. I am lucky to know the people I do and have the opportunities I have. I'm grateful to be a mother. I'm grateful for Addison and the way she sees the world and has changed my life. I love the way my daughter loves bubbles, running, and shaking her booty. I love how funny she thinks it is to tell me a secret. I love how excited she gets to do anything if I say it in the right tone. I love that at night she makes me give her 5 kisses and 5 hugs. I love that she doesn't see race, gender, social status or have any biases toward people. I love that she is full of love. I love watching this little girl grow and can't wait to continue to see the woman she will become. I'm a Single Mom and It's OK

I'm writing this post today because I feel like there are some very beautiful single mothers (or even not single, just mothers) in my life that are going through a hard time. Being a mom is tough enough, facing challenges while keeping a "happy face" can sometimes be nearly impossible. So here is what I want to say:

This past year and a half has been full of challenges for me and Addi. We moved out of my mom's house in January of 2010, I started my full time job at an accounting firm and Addi started pre-school near my work. We moved to Corona, which is not the nicest place, and commuted over 2 hours a day to get to work and school. Addi went through two DVD players and my car took such a beating I ended up with a new one half way through the year. In January of 2011 we moved a little closer to our new home in Laguna Hills. Now our drive is about ten minutes, but I work more hours and Addi has homework, so again it seems like we are always on the go.

I've watched myself change from a fun, outgoing, partying - tons of friends chick, to a yell, scream, cry, clean, cook and prepare tax returns kinda lady. Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder how I got this way or who would want me now and here's the answer: Addison.

Life is hard, it's easier for some and even harder for others, I have been through a living hell with some of the experiences that have gotten me and Addi to where we are. I have felt lost, lonely, depressed, crazy, angry, irrate and even worthless at times. I have had some of my darkest moments trying to manage the hardships of being a single mom. When you plan something fun to do with your child after a long week of work and they complain and whine so much that it turns into a screaming match where you both loose and end up in tears... or when you finally get a little bit of extra money and it's time to buy yourself some new clothes becuase everything you own either doesn't fit your fat ass or has holes in it, then your daughter needs to register for school, or REALLY wants to be in sports class, or you have to pay a bill that someone else missed. Life is hard. So, sometimes I wonder why should I continue, why go on, what's the point, it's not getting better. Here's the answer: Addison.

You see, when I was 20 and partying way too hard, doing a million things I shouldn't, and failing out of school, not really giving a damn, I got what I thought was going to be the worst thing that could ever happen to me: a postivie pregnancy test. But really, she saved me. Because of her I've graduated from school, because of her I care more about everyone, because of her I'm who I am today. So inspite of how I've changed, or how my life didn't end up the way I thought, I was given a gift and no matter what I have to do to raise a her right and give her everything she could ever imagine in life I will.

For the first three years of her life all I could think about was how she needed a dad, she should have two parents, her father and I should make this work or I should find someone else. It was my focus. It effected my mood, my friendships, my relationships, my mothering. I have finally realized now that I am a single mother. My daughter has a mother that is strong enough to be both parents, I am strong enough that God sent me a beautiful daughter to raise knowing that I could do. God does not give us challenges we cannot bear. He would not have given me the sweet child I have if I could not be a mother and a father. I'm a single mom and it is ok. Why? Because I love Addison.

So, to my friends who are struggling you know who you are: STOP. Stop trying to change others, stop trying to find someone else to complete your family, stop trying to criticize everything you do, stop putting yourself down and stop wondering when your life will begin. You are a beautiful mother. You have beautiful children. God knows you are enough or this challenge would not be one you would have to bear. Fight for yourself, not for someone else. Fight to live. Live for your children. Forget about people that drag you down and STOP dragging yourself down. You are better than that. If you could stop and see yourself the way your children see you, you'd see the most incredible woman in the world. You'd see their mother. I love you, and I am always here. I have felt the pain you feel, and I will be with you through all your hard times and all the happy ones that are yet to come. And they will. I promise you they will.

Goodbye 2010, Welcome 2011

2010 was such a CRAZY year. It was probably the most eventful year that I've had since Addi was born! It started out with my baby girl turning THREE. She is growing up so fast and learning more and more everyday. She had a big princess birthday party with all her friends in Claremont, right before we moved to Corona.

In January 2010, Addi and I moved out of my parents house, to our first home together in Corona. I started my full time job at Kieckhafer, Schiffer and Company as a Tax Accountant and Addi started preschool at Tutor Time in Irvine.
We've had a lot of fun in our apartment in Corona.

One of my best friends, Renee, got a job at KS&Co with me! It's been great to work with a close friend, and not to mention she's smart and makes my life easier! We've had a lot of good times this year, including the night she met her fiance, Gavin.

My baby sister, Katie, got married this year too! In June, she married her boyfriend of over 3 years, in the Newport Beach Temple. (How they stayed Temple worthy for 3 years is beyond me! LOL!) It was a beautiful wedding and a whole lot of fun. They had already adopted TWO Puppies that they call their kids and we see them as much as they can! I'm sure they are going to have a great year....more news to come!

Addi was the most beautiful flower girl in the world, and I'm pretty sure she gets it from me! HA HA HA! JK!

My oldest sister, Shelly, came out to visit this summer with her family. It was so much fun. Addi loves her cousins so much and I wish they lived closer, or I had more money to go visit them!

One of the biggest things that happened this year, was Quinn and I resolving our differences. It's taken nearly 7 years for him and I to see eye to eye. I'm very thankful to have him as my daughter's father. I know we've had our fair share of problems and drama, and I'm sure we'll have issues in the future, but I'm so glad that we were able to put the past in the past and move forward.

Addi got to see lots of friends this year too! My friend Alyssa came to visit with her boys, and Tara came down too! (Sorry Tara, I tried to add the pic of Addi with Marek, but my computer wouldn't load it!) I miss my girls from Utah SO MUCH. I wish that we all lived on the same street and our kids could all grow up together. Time definitely changes things, but there is nothing like girlfriends. No matter how long it's been since you've last seen each other, somehow it always just picks up right where it left off. I'm so thankful for all my girls. I wouldn't make it through this life without them.

This year Addi and I were lucky enough to meet some AMAZING new friends. One of the directors and the kindergarten teacher at Addi's school are single moms of beautiful, sweet and funny little girls. We get together at least once a week and the girls play while the mommy's chat! It's so much fun and it's been great to have friends that are going through the same things that I am. I love them so much and truely feel blessed that they are in my life. Best part: we all have disneyland season passes!

This year definitely brought it's fair share of challenges and accomplishments, tears and triumphs, failures and successes. I have so many things left to accomplish in life and I can't wait for this year to be a great one!
So Happy New Year Everyone! I'm posting my New Years Resolutions so that I actually have to stick to them since they are public information.

Resolutions:

Pay off half of my credit card debt
Pass two parts of the CPA exam
Take Addi to Monterey
Lose 10 pounds a month
Spend atleast one night a week doing something absolutely fun with Addi, with no distractions.
Scrapbook more. Atleast finish through year two of Addi's life.
Smile more.... I'd like to not be such a witch, with a B, this year!

I think 7 resolutions is PLENTY! Hopefully I can keep every single one! (Maybe not so much #7, HA HA HA!)

With that, I'm definitely excited to say goodbye to 2010. I can't wait for this year to bring GREAT THING to me and Addi. I love you all and I hope 2011 is the best year of your life :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Merry Christmas! I can't believe this was Addi's fourth Christmas! Time sure flies. This Christmas was SO MUCH FUN! She was so excited about Santa coming to visit!

On Christmas Eve we had dinner at my moms and Addi got to open her new Christmas pajamas.

And this is my mom and George's new baby, Abbey! She is not quite a baby anymore!

And it just wouldn't be Christmas Eve without family games! We taught Addi spoons! She has a really cool mom that always made sure she got a spoon!

Santa DEFINITELY CAME! Addi got spoiled! She didn't even know where to start!

She was SO EXCITED to get her princess bike with a seat for her baby!

To complete her plush doll collection: Snow Whilte and Rapunzel! She has all the princesses, they have overtaken her tiny toddler bed!

One of the benefits of living in Cali is that when you get a bike for Christmas, it's nice and sunny and you can go right outside and ride it!

The absolute best part of the day was the whole family taking turns at Michael Jackson: The Experience on the WII. Addi was pretty good, I was AWESOME, the rest of my family was hilarious!

We are so blessed! It was such a fun Christmas. I can't even explain how much fun it was to celebrate Christmas with Addi this year! She is such an amazing and spirited little girl. She can make anything and everything the most exciting thing in the world. I am such a blessed person to have an amazing family and a beautiful little girl.

Right before Christmas we got to go to Disneyland with our friends! It was so much fun! It was 80 degrees in December. I don't think I ever remember seeing Santa as a kid when I was wearing shorts!

Fun Christmas Activities

This Christmas season we did SO MANY fun and exciting activities to help us celebrate Christmas. Here are just a few of our activities!

When my brother was in town we went and saw some lights in Riverside and Santa!

I love this picture! Addi is so beautiful! She looks so cute in a beanie! I'm jealous!

We went to the annual church Nativity show at my Stake Center and saw tons of Nativity scenes and Addi got to dress up and play the part of Mary. It was really awesome to teach her the story this year and have her remember that we celebrate Jesus at Christmas!

Addi had a school Christmas program! It was SO CUTE! My whole family came down for it and I was so thankful for their support. Addi learned so many songs and it was so adorable to see her participate in her first Christmas program!

These are Addi's little boyfriends. Atleast, that's what she tells me. "Jamison and Jack are my boyfriends, I'm going to marry Jack first and then STROLL to Jamison." Oh my heck, I'm in SO MUCH TROUBLE!

We also got to spend a lot of time with our friends from school Autumn, Ella, Amber and Aubree. I'm so thankful for this new friendship we've found this year. Autumn and Amber are great moms and it's been so fun having people to relate to. And the girls get a long GREAT!

Thanksgiving with Family

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year! My brother from Utah came with his two kids, and my cousin Mike, with his wife Kim and their two kids! It was a full house! But Addi was so excited to not be the only kid at the table for once!

After dinner we went to see Tangled! Addi was so excited, it was the cutest Disney movie I've seen in a long time!

I haven't taken a picture of Addi with my parents for so long! Addi loves Grandma and Grandpa. I don't know what I'd do without them!

Uncle Josh and Aunt Katie actually didn't have to work and got to come for dinner too! It was nice to have them over!

I really have so much to be thankful for. I have an amazing, smart and beautiful daughter, a great family, and great friends! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Preparations for Christmas!

Addi is so excited for Christmas this year! She is learning the songs, and reading stories and constantly telling me what I need to tell Santa! I decided to make the most of the season and get an Advent Calendar. Everyday in December we are going to do something special to celebrate Christmas..... decorating our tree, going to see Santa, going to Disneyland, watching holiday movies and reading Holiday books and also a Charity project! I want Addi to completely enjoy this season, as well as learn the true meaning of Christmas.

Today, I had Addi go through all her toys to "make room for new ones from Santa". I told her she needs to give her toys she doesn't play with to girls and boys that don't have any toys. I really thought that she'd fight me on giving away anything or maybe only pick one or two things! I was so suprised to fill two garbage bags, plus a container full of great toys for other children! My daughter is such a sweetheart and I hope she keeps that quality throughout her entire life!

Addi's First Sleepover!

Addi has become very good friends with one of the little girls at school! They love all the same things and play together, it's been a lot of fun! (Ella's mom is a teacher at Addi's school, and is a single mom, so while the girls play the mommy's can chat!)

Ella came over to our house and had dinner and a slumber party!

It always looks like a princess party at our house! Good thing Ella likes them too!

The girls were so cute sleeping together! Addi must really love Ella to share her princess dolls, especially Aurora!

They only stayed up an hour later than usual and then I heard them whispering for a little while, before they both slept all night! All-in-all it was a great first sleepover.

I can't believe my little girl is so grown up!

As time flies by...

I've spent the past few days really thinking about how fast time flies. I feel like this past year has been so crazy and hectic and when I look back on time I can't believe how fast Addi's childhood is flying by. My little girl is almost four. It literally only feels like a few short months ago that I was sitting in a hospital in Murray, UT hoping that I would be a good enough mom to this sweet little baby.

Thankfully, we moved to California and Addi is getting to grow up around my whole family, great friends and have plenty of time to play with her mom!

I can't believe how much she has changed, how fast she grows, or how precious these years have been to me. She is such an angel and it is my hope for her that she has a happy and loved childhood.

I often think of what I would give to keep her so precious, sweet and innocent. I wish I could savour every moment of every day like she does. I hope that she still has many days ahead of simply worrying about why the sun goes to bed or who paints the rainbows in the sky.

This little girl is such a blessing in my life. She is so sweet and loving.

Addi, you will always be my "boo-boos"

No matter how old you get, where you go in life, or what you become I will always love you. I can't wait to see you grow and achieve everything that you could ever imagine wanting.

Vacation Time at Home!

I decided after 10 long months of working it was time to take a week off that was just for me! I'm so glad that my friend, Alyssa, could come down from Utah with her boys to hang out with us. We got to go to the Beach!

It was a little cold but definitely fun!!!

We spent a day with them at Disneyland! Addi and Luke got to hang out while the adults went on the "big kid" rides! I see engagement photos :)

Of course Addi met all the Princesses and even got her Halloween costume!

We celebrated Luke's 3rd birthday! It was such a blast!

And ended our trip in Sea World! It was so much fun! The kids got to feed the Sea Lions!

Then, in preparation for Halloween we went to a pumpkin patch!

Addi is so beautiful! I can't believe how big she is getting and how much more I love her everyday.

Addi's school had a "Fall Festival" with fun games, trick-or-treating and costumes! It was fun to see her play with all her friends!

And of course, the main event, Halloween! My little princess! She is so beautiful and such an angel. I love this age where her imagination and creativity is in full force! She is always singing me little songs she makes up and loves princesses more than anything.

It is such a blessing to have such amazing friends and a beautiful little girl. I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to do fun things with her and watch her grow in the world. She is such a blessing and such a joy in my life!

My sister Shelly came into town from Kentucky last week with her kids. It is always so much fun to see them. It sucks that they only come once a year. It was great to see Addi play with all the kids. I can't believe how big everyone is getting. (yet I don't ever age :)

My Sept 15th deadline is over! Thank goodness! Working these long hours is ROUGH! I really hope that things slow down for a little while so I can enjoy the fall and the holidays with Addi. Our next big adventure will be next month. Alyssa is coming down to go to Disneyland with us and then we're heading up to SLC. It'll be good to see everyone after a year has passed since we last visited.

Despicable Me: A Must See

I spent the entire day last Saturday with Addi. We cleaned our apartment, ran errands, she even went with me for a little mani/pedi (the ladies love her, so they do hers for like $10) Then we went to see this movie. I was actually not looking forward to it cause I thought it would be one of those stupid not-so-funny kid movies that I go to all the time, but it wasn't. It was hilarious and a very good story. It was very touching and I think my favorite scene delt with him reading to the little girls because it's exactly how I feel. If you haven't seen it yet- GO. I don't care if you have kids or not, it was so cute.

I feel like we've really had nothing going on but then I look at my last blog and realize that since then we've moved, Addi's started preschool I started a job, and my sister got married! Addi is three! I can't even believe it... time is flying by so fast. We had a mellow day on her birthday and just ordered pizza and opened presents! Then, we had a birthday party with all her friends on Saturday! She had a great time and got super spoiled! I love Addi! She is so special and so adorable!

Life after Graduation!

So I have to apologize for not blogging at all lately! Things have been crazy. I graudated in June, and I start my full-time accounting position in January at a CPA firm in Irvine (the same one I did my internship at). I am very excited. Until then, Addi and I are just hanging out at home. We've had a few difficult times lately. I'm not sure how much I want to talk about that on my blog, but basically I'm trying to find a little part-time job to save up some money to move out and have some spending money for Christmas. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a silly little job! Apparently no one wants to hire an accountant to do a $10 an hour job! LOL! We just keep praying I'll find something soon! In the mean time, we've gone on a couple vacations- one to Utah for Dave's wedding and we made it to Idaho just in time for Tara to have her baby! That was really special to be there for her! It was fun to catch up with old friends, although we did have some issues while we were there so I have to apologize to those of you who I didn't see or spend much time with! You'll have to come visit us some time soon! Our house is always open for visitors!

Hopefully I'll find more time to keep my blog updated and keep in touch with everyone!

Yesterday, for my step-dad's birthday, we went to Disneyland and California Adventure! It was SO FUN! I can't wait to go back. It was Addi's first time and my first time back in ten years! I can't believe how many new things they have and how ABSOLUTELY FUN it was! Addi was SO GOOD: no whining, crying, she waited in lines and rode every ride she could, even the Matahorn! I was really proud of her! We're definitely going back SOON SOON SOON!!!

Park Days!

Addi is in love with a park by our house. It had two big playgrounds and a duck pond. She wants to go almost every day. It's so fun! She's getting so big and I love to watch her play! I think that we are the ONLY people that feed the ducks though because every time they see us they jump out of the water and come over for some food!

Easter Sunday

Easter was so much fun this year! My friend Annie was in town and came up and spent the day with us. We went to church and then we had a small easter egg hunt outside! Flasher: Problem or not???

So I can't decide if this is cute or a BIG PROBLEM! Lately Addi has decided that she is an official FLASHER! (if my blog wasn't private I wouldn't post this...but it's so dang funny!) Hey Everyone! Sorry about the lag in postings! I've been so busy with my internship, school and Addi! We have a lot going on but we found some time tonight to decorate Easter Eggs. Addi had a blast...as you can see! I love having a two-year-old! She is amazing! It's like a mini-version of myself as a best friend, so needless to say we have a great time!

Yes, it's that's warm here! I love that I can totally dress her for summer in April!

My sister is turning 20 tomorrow so we went out to dinner last night to celebrate! We went to Lucille's, which may be the best "down home" cooking in the world, which would also explain the TWO hour wait! I know for most people being stuck at a beautiful mall for two hours is not a problem- but most people aren't Addi! Katie- you're lucky we love you enough to stay for you! Anyway- we had a great time and we found some fun things to entertain us! :)

Addi's Second Birthday

Quinn came down to celebrate Addi's second birthday. We had so much fun while he was here! We spent a lot of timing hanging out at home and going to the local parks! We also spent most nights watching Shrek since that is officially Addi's favorite movie! (Thank goodness there are three of them!) We had a little birthday party for her on Saturday and went to the Santa Ana Zoo and then went home for presents and cake! We always love it when dad comes to visit!

I love it there, but it is definitely a lot of work and the commute is a little rough. Addi started a new daycare/preschool. She seems to enjoy it but it is a hard adjustment to not be home with her all day.

I love that song. I love the special meaning, it is such a simple reminder of what the Savior is for all of us. I am so thankful for the gospel in my life. I am thankful for the Savior, I am thankful for the unconditional sacrifce that He made for me. I am thankful that no matter what challenges I face I know He has felt my pain, that He has suffered for me. I know that He lives and loves me. I know that He hears my prayers and comforts me. I am so thankful for this special time of year when I can remember Him and celebrate His birth and life.

Rainy Days

We've had some rainy weather the past few weeks! Addi is a very "outdoorsy" child so the rain and her don't get along! She's been pretty antsy, I've had to take her to the mall a few times just to let her run around! One day though I entertained her painting some Christmas decorations! Ginger Bread Houses and Temple Square

One night while I was in Salt Lake Addi and I got to hang out with her little "boyfriend" Jack, and his awesome parents! We started the night off making a ginger bread house! It was so much work because the pieces were broken in the box! I am proud to say that even though Quinn tried to fixed it my friend Annie is the one that worked the magic! Then the kids decorated the house, and by "decorated" I mean ate as much candy and frosting as they could! HA HA! It was a lot of fun!

Then we headed to temple square! I love Christmas lights and I have missed Temple Square since moving to California so even though it was extremely cold I had a great time!

This past week I went to Utah for a very sad occassion. My best friends, Dave and Jesse, lost their mom the Wednesday before thanksgiving. I wanted to share her obituary with you because she was such a special woman. I loved her so much. She was always there with open arms, the May's house was always open to anyone to visit. She was such an amazing person and I know that Jesse and Dave will not be the same without her here, but I also know that she made them the men that they are. I love you Suzy!

Susan May 8/12/1954~11/26/2008 Susan May, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008, surrounded by her family.Susan was born on August 12th, 1954 to Ralph and Marjorie Whitehead and was later adopted by Ralph and Evelyn Jones. Susie married her knight in shining armor, Ted L. R. May on July 5th, 1972 in the Provo LDS Temple. Together they had five wonderful children and told people that they got married to "breed athletes". Susie was very active in her Wards with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and magnified her many callings. Susie was loved by all those who knew her. Quinn came down a couple weekends ago and took Addi and I to a football game at the Chargers Stadium. I was SO EXCITED! I hadn't been to a U of U football game since I had Addi. She had a great time, she ran through the seats most the time and played on the rails, but I did catch her cheering a couple times! It wasn't the best game because WE KILLED SDSU, but I was so excited to go it didn't matter! Needless to say Utah won and since then we also beat BYU and we are headed to a BOWL game! YAY!

Finding Joy in the Journey

Sorry it has been a little while since my last post. I have so many pictures to post and so little time! We have been doing well. I am wrapping up yet another quarter of school, and Addi is rounding the corner on her 2nd birthday. She is growing, learning and changing everyday.

The past few months haven't been the easiest for me and I recently took comfort in this talk and I wanted to share it with all of you, hoping that it will find a way to enrich your lives. At the last conference, President Thomas S Monson gave a talk on Finding Joy in the Journey. He stated that nothing is as constant as change, and that the things we will regret in life are the little things that we overlook. This is my favorite quote:

"This is our one and only chance at mortal life—here and now. The longer we
live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and
then they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in
this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between
what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those most
important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and nonexistent
future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy
in the journey—now."

I wanted to take some time before thanksgiving to express how thankful I am for my life now. I am more thankful for Addi than any other blessing in my life. She has truly been my saving grace and I love her more than I have words to express. I know I am suppose to be her teacher and I am suppose to be her support system, but I think she is mine. She is the reason that I live each day, she is my heart and there really aren't words to express the love between a mother and a child.

I love my family, and am so thankful for their support. Being a single mom is probably the most challenging thing I have experienced. There are days when I have never felt more alone. But I know that my mom, stepdad, and sister are always here to help me or just "be" by my side. Addi loves my mom and sister so much and I can't imagine raising her without their love in her life. I am also so thankful for my friends and their constant unconditional love that they have for me. I am thankful for the gospel and the amazing gift of the atonement. I am thankful that I have been given a chance to change my life and return to church. I have amazing friends in my ward and I love my calling in Primary and Nursery. The children are truly so close to our Heavenly Father and being around them makes me feel the closeness of the spirit.

Though this year has thrown me many challenges, I have never felt more grateful for my life and the people around me. I hope you all know how much I love you and appreciate your constant love and support. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for all you do.

Sunday Fun!

A lot of you know my family, so these pictures won't be too suprising! My parents rented Journey to the Center of the Earth last weekend and loved it! Well, they heard that there is a 3-D version, (which should only be cool to a five year old right?) NO! WAL-MART was visited and this is what happened on sunday:

My stepdad also decided that he needed to finish fixing the bicycle he bought Addi at a garage sale a year ago, so while he was at walmart he got a new tire, and she got to test drive her bike on Sunday. Until Aunt Katie took over and Addi decided to push her around!

Another wonderful thing about Sundays (as the holidays get closer) is that my step dad gets the newspaper and I savagely look through all the ads hoping for deals! I went into the other room for a few minutes and when I came back I found Addi, laying on top of a pillow, reading the target toy book! GOOD GIRL HONEY! YOU LEARN HOW TO SHOP AND LOVE IT AND WE'LL GET A LONG FINE! :)

Needless to say, we're weirdos! But, you know, we have a great time! (And yes, I sure put on some 3D glasses and joined them!) And I'm very proud that I've addicted Addi to shopping at an early age and she is officially afraid of spiders! Watch out daddy, she might be becoming a Mommy's girl! :)

HALLOWEEN 2008!

This year Halloween was so much fun! We got to pick up my cousin Natalie from the airport in the morning and go to lunch with her and her husband, Cody in Long Beach.

Then we headed over to my cousin Mike and Kim's house for Halloween, like last year. Addi loves her cousin Tyler, and she was very excited to see him! We spent the day playing with them...

and then of course we went trick-or-treating. Kim's neighborhood goes OVERBOARD with decorations and it was a BLAST! Addi had a great time, she even got to see a few neighborhood puppies! A couple guys in masks scared her accidently, but for the most part she was very content running around getting free candy! I'm so glad I get to have these fun memories with her!

She's such an angel... and not too mention- SO BEAUTIFUL! It was a great time!

Carving Our First Pumpkin

Addi and I (with help from Grandma) carved our first pumpkin this year. It was not a success. It was suppose to be Elmo, but it clearly is not... in fact, it is a sorry excuse for anything. I'm completely blaming it on Addi! In my defense, Addi knows what it is, she calls it "mo-mo umpkin" Even though it isn't beautiful, it was fun to pull the guts out, carve and paint with Addi. She was pretty excited about the candle inside too! I guess we have 17 more years of pumpkin carving to perfect the process! :)

Cal Poly Pumpkin Patch

We have been really busy this past month, but we have definitely found our time for fun! I decided since the week before last was midterms, and last Sunday was the Primary Program (which was a lot of work for me) that I would take Addi to the pumpkin patch at my school. We did this last year (some of my favorite pictures of her) and I thought now that she could walk/run she'd love it! We had a great time!

The pumpkins were pretty dry so they weren't heavy and Addi could pick them up!

Addi saw a little boy sitting on a pumpkin, and his mom taking pictures of him, so she went and sat down on this pumpkin and started saying "cheese"! She's such a nerd!

Dave's visit...and some other fun!

Dave came to visit last week... we went to dinner with him one night! Addi fell and hit her head (notice the goose-egg)

I miss living close to Dave, but he still manages to do a pretty good job at being my best friend!

One night last week (they're all a blur) I let Addi have a bubble bath... she LOVED IT!

Quinn sent Addi this cute little Utah Jersey and some fun FAN gear! She loves it... this is her tough face... it also just happens to be an EXACT MATCH to a face that Quinn makes... am I right? :)

Halloween Cupcakes!

A couple of Sunday's ago, Addi and I decided to make Halloween cupcakes! She's finally getting to the age where we can do lot's of fun things together and she's a great little helper! So, I sat her up on the counter and got to work:

Then we mixed them together... this part amazed Addi :)

Then, of course we had to lick the beater

After they baked, we started decorating! Addi was very amazed... she kept saying WOW!

Oak Glen

We went on a field trip with Addi's school to Oak Glen, which is an apple farm about an hour east of our house! It was really fun! We always have a great time when we are with Addi's little nursery friends! It was fun to watch Addi help make apple juice, pet farm animals and go on her first Hay Ride!

We started the day off playing in the hay!

Then we went on a hay ride... Addi loved the horses (you can tell how excited she is in the picture...haha!)

Then we got to take turns making apple juice on an old fashioned "machine"

After all the apples were crushed... here is the juice

And of course, the kids got to taste it! (It was actually really good!)

Addi was so excited for the petting zoo! She was not afraid of the animals at all!

In fact, she was really concerned about this pig, it just laid there the whole time and she kept asking "You ok? Are you ok?" it was so precious! I love Addi!

Decorating for Halloween!

Addi helped me decorate for Halloween last weekend. She had a lot of fun putting the spider webs on the rock wall and sticking the pictures to the mirror! She is such a cutie! We listened to music and danced around and I helped her on her way to a great fear of spiders! (Watch the video and you'll know what I'm talking about!)

My uncle Jon just recently moved to a little town in the middle of no-where, also known as Lake Elsinore, south of Corona. We went down to visit him and see his beautiful house, gorgeous back yard and lakeside view! He has a three-level pool, and then lives on a lake... life is hard! :)

This is the kiddie pool... only about a foot and a 1/2 deep perfect for tanning... or following Tyler around!

Thanks Roo for tagging me... as if people didn't think I was weird already! Here it goes...

1. I have to have my toes covered if there is a blanket present! I can't have a blanket on me if my toes are covered.... in fact, if I am watching a movie I have to be covered by a blanket, if I'm cold or not and I can't sleep unless my sheets are neatly tucked in the foot of my bed! I know it's weird but that's what this thing is all about right! And while we're on the subject of toes- my toes HAVE to be painted, I haven't had my toes unpainted since 1990! Seriously!

2. I can't drink anything with ice except ice water unless I have a straw. I don't like ice in my drinks, but I like them cold.... I always have to have a straw at restaurants because they overload the ice... I hate when it touches my lips when I'm drinking... it throws me off! :)

3. I feel the need to overuse a lot of words and expressions on the computer and in general! I say LOL, HA HA, :), ......, ( ), seriously, BTW, anyway, for sure, definitely, and J/K more than anyone I know. (well almost) So, sorry if it bothers you but I won't be changing!

4. I secretly shop for things that I know I can't afford (well not so secret now that I have a blog) I look at Coach and Juicy's websites at least once a week, and I am always looking a Manolo's and various other shoes I can't afford and probably can't even walk in! I don't know why, but it makes me happy to know that I can at least look!

(BTW this is the Coach Bag I'm dying for right now... if anyone rich needs any Christmas ideas for me)

5. I refuse to leave the house without mascara and lip gloss on. I would rather walk around with "i just rolled out of bed after being electrocuted" hair than without mascara and lip gloss. Those things are just kind of my safety net!

6. I never even owned a camera before Addi was born and now I'm addicted to it! I actually set up things to do so that I can take pictures! I think I'm a little crazy, but hey, Addi gets to have fun right?! I love to blog and scrapbook and seriously, who wouldn't if their little girl was as cute as mine!

Anyway- those are the quirkiest things I could think of, but if you have anything better you can let me know!

Bath Time... then and now!

I love this little duck tub from last year! Addi has obviously outgrown it! The best part is definitely her hair! I'm always complaining that her hair doesn't grow......

BUT IT SURE DOES!!! Bathtime is one of our favorite times of the day! Addi is very silly in the tub and loves it when I squeeze all the bubbles out of her hair (which is why it's sticking straight up)

I am so excited that Utah is rockin this season! We are 6-0! Tonight's game was so freakin intense! We totally WON in the last two seconds with a field goal..not to mention we scored a touchdown in less than a minute to tie the score before that, which included a two-point conversion! Ok- I am having the HARDEST TIME finding a CUTE halloween costume! I'm not sure I like the Tom Arma stuff for Addi... too hot and bulky she won't wear it... I like the Purple Fairy at Gymboree but I'm not sure it's really Addi! WHAT SHOULD I DO???? HELP ME! It's the dumbest thing and it's stressing me out!!!

Does it look like Elmo swallowed this kid or is it cute?

The new Train park!

The park on the trail by our house was remodeled a few months ago. Addi is IN LOVE with the new park and so am I! They have these little chairs that spin when you sit on them... fun for kids and adults :) Addi loves the train and the horses! She loves that there is a tunnel and rocks to climb on and I think the biggest reason she loves it is it doesn't involve a car ride to get there! I try to take her at night after dinner and let her RUN IT ALL OUT!

We love living in California... there is so much to do and the weather is so beautiful. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful neighborhood...with a great ward and wonderful friends. California really is a nice place to raise a family, I think I'd have a hard time leaving!

LA County Fair

Addi's preschool had a field trip on Wednesday to the LA County fair. We were only able to go for a few hours but it was still a great time. The LA County Fair is HUGE! We only were able to go to one barn but Addi got to touch a ton of animals and see lots of cows, horses, pigs and sheep. We have definitely seen enough fairs this year though! I think we're ready for some City Livin now! :)

Addi would stick her fingers in and the pig would come over to smell her, she thought it was pretty funny!

The guy said "Be soft, One Finger" Addi got the one finger part...but she poked the heck out of that baby chicken! I think she chose to ignore the BE SOFT part!

Addi's First day of Pre-preschool!

I started a Parent-Tot class with Addi yesterday. It was a lot of fun to see her interact with other kids her age and do little arts and crafts and singing time. This class was a great find (thanks again Amy) It is seriously only $35 for the whole fall which include two 3-hour classses every week and lots of field trips. This wednesday we are going to the state fair for free and in a couple weeks we are going to Oak Glen, which is an apple orchard/farm. Addi is going to love this class and I am really going to love the chance to spend time with her and watch her develop!

Utah State Fair

We went to the Utah State Fair with Quinn's friends, Ben and Steph and Addi's love: Jack! It was so much fun! The Utah Fair is small and no where else in the world can get away with charging $8.50 for a corndog, but it was fun to see the kids watch the animals and go on little rides!

Jack and Addi were having fun throwing Hay at Quinn. Addi discovered the hay first and when she bent over and picked it up she excitedly screamed "HEY" or "HAY" ha ha...it made me laugh! She was just excited to play in the dirt, I was proud she "knew" what it was!

Someone got a little pooped out! Thanks to Aunt Shay for letting us borrow her stroller and create a bed for Addi!

I really had a lot of fun hanging out with Ben and Steph. Jack and Addi really love each other! They hold hands and kiss and talk about each other: it's adorable! One day hopefully we'll all live very close together so the kids can play everyday!

We're Home

We made our way back to California yesterday! I have to say I've never been so happy to drive through San Bernadino canyon and know that my house was only 30 minutes away! We had so much fun in Utah (more blogs to come) and Addi had so much fun with her dad and his family and friends. I had a lot of fun with my friends too but it is safe to say that there is "no place like home!" I must have been exhausted because I fell asleep around 6:30 last night and woke up this morning at 7! (Guess it's a good thing my mom was around to watch Addi- since I put her in her high chair for dinner and laid down for a "second" while she ate- ha ha!) I just want to say thanks to all my friends for spending so much time with me and thanks to Quinn for EVERYTHING! We had a great time and we always seem to make good memories when we come up to Utah!

Childrens Museum: Boys will be Boys!

We discovered that the Children's Museum is not only a place for little kids but also a place for big kids! Quinn and Ben had a lot of fun playing with the toys and making sure they could do all the fun kid things!

Children's Museum: The Kids

On Wednesday, Quinn and I took Addi to the Children's Museum in Salt Lake. It is for sure the coolest place for kids! We went with his sister, Shay and her beautiful little girl Zaida, and Quinn's best friend Ben and his son Jack (who happens to be the boy Addi will be marrying) :) The kids had a blast playing with each other and all the kid size toys!

The Aquarium and The Beach

Summer quarter is finally over! YAY! I took my last final on Friday when Quinn was in town and then we decided Saturday had to be a fun day! We went to the Long Beach Aquarium in the morning and had a great time. It is so big and there are so many fun things to see! They even have a bird aviary with Parrots. After the Aquarium we went to Huntington Beach and had fish tacos (Quinn's fave) and then did a little shopping, and went to the actual beach! Addi loves to play in the water! We had a blast and I have to say it was a wonderful day! It was so relaxing and fun! A perfect way to spend my last day in Cali!

Welcome To Cali!

Quinn came to visit Addi and I in Cali last weekend! Addi absolutely loves her daddy... no one can quite build a Lego Building or throw Addi in the air like Quinn. I'm glad that he came down and spent some time with us! We had fun at local parks, malls, the aquarium and the beach!

Thanks Christina for letting us use your house! You are a great friend and I can't wait to see you and Nash! And I can't wait for you to come back so I can hug that little boy and you can make me run! LOL!

Lake Powell

I had an incredible time at Lake Powell. It was so beautiful! The car ride there was extremely long but luckily the kids were sweet. (My nephew Skyler came with us) It was fun to go to Lake Powell with family and relax. Unfortunately we spent the first night in tears because Addi fell immediately off the dock into the lake. She was completely under water for atleast 30 seconds but luckily we found her and she was ok. It was very scary, and made me even more thankful for her. I can't imagine my life without her. We spent a lot of time in the water, on the boat and jetski! I even took Addi out! It was a good time. I really enjoyed my short vacation. Lake Powell is a beautiful place.

Hey- yes we are still alive! I know I haven't updated for a while! We have just been having too much fun! We went to Lake Powell and two days after we came home Quinn came to visit and it has just been non-stop fun :) We are leaving for Salt Lake in the morning and I'm just up late packing tonight! Summer Project Wrap Up and Update!

There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! I took on a lot of projects this summer (I don't know why, because I also had six classes) I wanted to get my scrapbook completely caught up, make memory boards and redecorate my bedroom since Addi had destroyed her wall and my wall had a "shelf-colapsing" incident! So- I'm pretty proud of myself and decided to take pictures of a few of my favorite pages and also the memory boards and newly decorated walls!

These are my favorite pages (so far) I have three 50-70 page scrapbooks already and Addi's only 19 months old! She is obviously the center of my world!

Yes, I know that Add's wall is a little crooked, but me and Katie were using a pillow as a level, and I was trying to make sure everything was up high enough so Addi can't rip it off the wall this time!

This summer has been a lot of fun! We are heading to Lake Powell next week and then Quinn is coming to vist and we'll be heading up to Utah in September! Our fall schedule is a VERY CRAZY ONE! Mondays and Wednesdays Addi and I have a parent-tot class from 9-12, and then I'll be working at Addi's daycare from 1-4 (YAY! MONEY!) Tuesday and Thursday's I have school from 8-5 and Addi has daycare! Hopefully we will be able to survive fall quarter! I'm looking forward to the cooler weather, but not the crazy schedule!

Stacey left town (which is killing me) but atleast I have her sister here for a week to comfort me! I'm so glad Shawna came to visit for the end of the summer. (Shawna is one of my best California friends and her husband recently got a job at Microsoft in Washington and they moved) We had a BBQ Monday night and we spent Tuesday at the park and at Shawna's house just hanging out! I definitely will be seeing her again before she leaves! Here are just a few pics of all of our kids playing together (I don't know why I didn't take a pic of me, Shawna and Stacey- probably because I don't get ready anymore and I didn't want proof of that!)

The End of an Era

I can't even type this blog post without crying- Ben is gone! Stacey and Sam went back to Idaho and unfortunately took their boys with them! (I was hoping they'd leave Ben for me!) Addi loves Ben so much, I can't even count how many times a day she asks if she can go see Ben, and everytime we get in the car she is pretty sure it's cause we're going to Ben's house. I don't know what I'm going to do without Stacey. She is such a good friend and I have loved spending the summer with her! I'm so glad she was here and I'm already counting the days until Christmas when she comes back! I really love you Stacey and I'm going to miss you so much! And of course it goes without saying that Addi is going to be lost without her "Bean"

Addi loves to swim (sorry mom- I know you said don't post this, but people won't be looking at you cause Addi is too cute!) She is trying to learn how to swim and she's actually doing a really good job! BUT she swims just like she runs, which is straight up and down! It is pretty funny! Our Busy Week!

I can't believe that it is already the middle of August! This summer disappeared (time to start Christmas shopping!) Addi is growing up so fast. It's really fun to have a toddler! People say it's hard, but I love watching her learn something new everyday and develop into her own person. Addi is just a little social butterfly. She is very flirty and loves to be the center of attention! People always stop to say "She's cute, oh, and she knows it!" LOL! Addi had her 18 month appointment a few weeks ago and is weighing in at 26 pounds and she is 34 inches tall! That girl grew like a weed! (She was only 28 inches at her 1 year appointment)

Addi and I had a lot of fun adventures this week! We had several play dates and park adventures! The funnest part of our week was the Children's Museum in Chino. Addi really enjoyed playing with all of her Nursery friends in a "kid size" village! It was a super cute place and the best part was it was $2.00 per child! You just can't beat that!

After the Children's museum Addi's little friend, Kate, came over to play (while her mommy went to the doctor). Kate is a very quiet, sweet girl and came up to me and said "Addi is Crazy!" HA HA! It's true! Addi has more energy that anyone I've ever met! She is so full of life and definitely keeps me on my toes! This week she has been obsessed with running and jumping! She tells everyone to "RUN" or "JUMP" It's SUPER CUTE! I love her so much! She is also the most DEFIANT child I've ever met! Addi thinks it's very funny not to listen, (and i don't help because sometimes her quirky attitude makes me laugh) but this week she was running down the side walk and I said "ADDI TURN AROUND" and she just stopped, starting twirling in circles, and then kept on running! HA HA! How can you not laugh at that? She is so special to me! I really love Addi more than I can express, and even if she is a little crazy I wouldn't change her for the world!

We always have fun when Ben comes over to play. This time my friend Stacey brought her cousin Jackie and her two girls. So we had a total of five (two babies) Addi had a blast. We played inside for a little while and then walked down to the park by my house. It was fun!

I went out with a couple of girlfriends last night! We had other plans, but ending up at a really cool Irish Pub with a Live Irish Band (thanks Sean Patrick for the recommendation- you're the best:) It was such a blast! I love to dance and hang out with my sweet, beautiful girlfriends!

Thursday= Beach too!

We headed back to the beach on Thursday. It is so beautiful, warm and fun, I can't help but want to go everyday! LOL! We went down to my cousins house and went to Manhattan beach, which is about 10 minutes from her house. (well then we had to drive around forever to find parking, apparently all of southern california was at the beach) We had fun though! I won't put too many pics on... We went to the beach for a few hours, then to Kim's for swimming, and then ate dinner and came home! Addi is such a trooper! She didn't take a nap all day and she was just an angel! I'm so lucky! I have such a great kid! I love her!

Last night I took Addi to a "Concert in the Park" (Claremont is an awesome city, and they have concerts in the park and movies in the park during the summer) One of the members of the band, The Answer, that was playing last night is a member of our ward: Van Mosley. His daughter, Bethany, went to high school with my sister and also babysits for me! The band was awesome! They play a lot of 70's and 80's cover music! Fridays=Beach

Now that school is somewhat over for me, and I don't have to study CONSTANTLY, we get to have a summer! I took Addi to the beach today and met up with my cousin's wife Kim, and their two kids Nikki and Tyler. Tyler and Addi are good friends. Tyler has loved her since the moment she was born. He calls her "Baby A-i-son" SO CUTE!

Thanks to California traffic Kim and the kids were a few hours behind us,

so we had some time to play together!

I love Addi's new swim suit! I love her little belly poking out of it! :)

Addi is getting a little too brave for the ocean. She runs right in! Today she ran out almost to her neck and when a wave came it knocked her over! She went under for a minute (scary) but got right up, turned around, pointed her finger at the ocean and said "NO NO" ha ha... I was laughing so hard I almost dropped my camera in the water! (I think she mimicks me a little too much!) I had so much fun with her today! She is such an amazing gift! I love spending time with her and watching her develop into a beautiful, sweet little girl! I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to take her to such fun places, and just let her be a kid! I really treasure the time I have with her, since most of my time is spent studying or going to school, it's so nice to just BE with Addi!

My Boo is so cute on the piano! She obviously watches me play a lot... look at her posture and her little fingers, I'm so proud! She's actually pretty good, she doesn't bang she just quietly moves her fingers on the keys! What do you think? Piano lessons for my 18 month old? HA HA!

Rough Day Part Three... The Silver Lining

I thought I'd get on here and express that I am TRULY THANKFUL that the earthquake didn't hurt my family, friends or home! We are very lucky that way! And I'm also grateful for wonderful doctors who care to test little kids for lead, because you know there's someone out there who still has lead paint and their kids are getting sick. I grateful it's not mine! I love my little Addi, and the WORST day I could have with her is way better than the BEST day of my life before her! She is such a sweetheart and I love her little quirky personality and her amazing spirit! I feel like sometimes I complain too much, so I just wanted to make sure everyone knew how much I love my life, my family, and especially my baby girl!

Rough Day Part Two

There was also a 5.8 magnitude earthquake at my house today! It was centered in Chino Hills, which is only a city away, less than 15 miles. It lasted for a pretty long time, and I was freaking out! I'm pretty sure I have no idea what to do in an earthquake! Addi was eating lunch in her high-chair and I had enough time to get her out and get under a doorway, before the shaking stopped. It was scarey, lots of loud rumbling and shaking. Addi and I were both a little dizzy after! Luckily nothing too terrible happened to our house and we're all ok!

Today is definitely one of those days that I should have stayed in bed! :)

Rough Day

I had to take Addi to get her blood drawn today. She was obviously not happy about it! They couldn't find a vein so she got poked a few times, so of course that made her even more upset! Poor little thing!

I hate watching my baby cry, DOCTOR'S ARE THE WORST! It was the dumbest blood test ever! Apparently, in Cali, they have to do a routine blood test between the age of 1 and 2 to check for LEAD! What the??? Don't they think if my daughter had lead poisoning there would be some signs? Not to mention paint stopped having lead in it, when? Like 1976! ERRR! Oh well, it's over!

By the way, 3 out of my 5 classes are over for the summer! YAY! Addi and I can finally have a summer and take advantage of the beach, the aquarium and the zoo! So, if anyone wants to have play dates just call!

Addi has learned the word HELP, except it sounds like she's a russian weight lifter when she says it... "HEOLP" It makes me laugh!

Addi has also been really enjoying talking to her dad on the web cam lately, he puts all sorts of funny things on the screen for her and she loves it! Her favorite is the puppy, I think Quinn's favorite is the lightning, and my favorite FOR SURE is the scuba mask!

So I was wandering the mall yesterday... just window shopping, and I found this outfit for Addi... Paris inspired, so obviously I love it... was going to buy it immediately until I realized that the total of this one dress, shirt, shoes and hat was $98 plus tax.... WHAT THE???

So I am trying to justify it in my mind by adding these overalls @ $29.50 to make the grand total $127.50 plus tax! But then I'd have two outfits!

So since I am not rich, or stupid, I will not be buying this outfit, but I just wanted you all to know that I think it's scandalous to try to charge $100 for a kids outfit... :)
